I am very excited to announce that the Lisa Mark Photography blog has undergone a make-over and will now be home to gorgeous full-size images (up to 3 times the smaller sizes I was able to use previously!)
Why revamp the blog’s design? I know it was functional and overall I quite liked it, however, my work is best seen large on the screen. The previous blog’s layout didn’t allow me any flexibility, and I was stuck with a maximum image width of around 500 pixels, which is soooooo limiting.
So, all my new blog posts will be happening at this new address: http://www.lisamarkphotography.com/blog/
I can’t wait to start posting my most recent work in the new style – hopefully it’ll knock your socks off! I’d be happy to hear your thoughts on the new blog’s style!
Cheers,
Lisa
P.S. One more thing folks – please note that the web address for this blog is now http://www.lisamarkphotography.com/blog/ and is no longer being hosted via the wordpress.com website. Please ensure you change your bookmarks…thank you!

As some of you long-time readers may remember, when I wanted to get my start in Boudoir Photography, I decided to have a contest on a local wedding message board called FrugalBride.com
I had a competition and asked everyone who entered for a free boudoir session (including hair and make-up by Tania Beattie from Brides Etc.) to send me their story of why they should be the one to win the free session. Well, I couldn’t pick between three of them so I awarded three free sessions!

Engagement Shoot at the Distillery District in Toronto, ON
Justin and I met Sarah and Darryl last month when they booked us to shoot their November 2009 wedding. Well, the time came to do their Engagement session and the ideal day was Valentine’s Day!
Since Sarah & Darryl are going to have more of a country-themed wedding (Darryl owns and operates his own farm), we decided it would be cool to give them urban-style engagement pics.

Happy Family Day guys – have fun if you get today off from work! It’s kind of a weird holiday, because many people are off, but the mail still comes. And I am happy for that because my brand new Fine Art Album sample arrived today! And I am in LOVE!

It’s Valentine’s Day weekend and being a romantic at heart, I couldn’t let this day go by without giving you a couple teasers from a great shoot I had yesterday. It was my first Valentine’s Day Engagement session with Sarah & Darryl, whose wedding I am shooting in November this year.
We did the shots at the Distillery District in Toronto, and after we did all our main images, I couldn’t resist having them hold a big heart ballon that says “Happy Valentine’s Day!” – how cute are they?
Here’s one other teaser from yesterday – I love the mood created in this image, and I feel that the doorway creates a perfect frame for them. By the way, being February 14th, 2009 it was FREEZING COLD but they were troopers and did all their shots without jackets!

Please keep checking the blog for more images from Sarah & Darryl’s shoot soon!

Yes, it is an Oasis song lyric (for those of you who are well-versed in cool British music), but at the moment I am referring to a creative shot I took today in Toronto. My poor cousin Krystal who is coming down with a head cold was sweet enough to be my model for this shoot. It wouldn’t have been so tough if the wind didn’t repeatedly knock over my lighting equipment, and if it wasn’t -11 with the wind chill. But she didn’t complain once! Amazing.
I wanted to do something with balloons, so we dropped in at Ladybug Florist (the cutest flower shop you ever saw!) at Church & Wellesley in downtown Toronto, and a gentleman working there helped put together some awesome looking balloons for the shoot. We then drove around for a few minutes trying to find the perfect location for our shot. We found it just down the road on Church Street.
Anyway I’ve felt really inspired over the last few days and wanted to try something new and “out of the box” for me…so voila! Please note that you can click the link below to view it in full size as well, which I HIGHLY recommend (the small size just doesn’t do it justice!).

I had the pleasure of shooting a family portrait last weekend for Tracy and her entire family. She had seen my work and had contacted me because she wanted natural, fun lifestyle family portraits. The whole family dressed smart casual, coordinating in white, which had a very cool look. The kids were an absolutely great time, and me (and Justin) had lots of fun shooting with them! Check out this pic of Justin getting “attacked” by a couple of the kids – priceless!

Last but certainly not least in the batch of girls from the January Boudoir Marathon is Jennifer who rocked a variety of awesome outfits and looks. We had a lot of fun shooting these, and Jennifer is way more outgoing than she thought she’d be doing her Boudoir pics! Love the sassy school girl uniform which is so fun. You may have seen a few of these pics previously, but I had a few more to add, so I wanted to do an individual post for Jenn.

Presenting the third girl from my January Boudoir Marathon – Sondra was a pleasure to work with and was very photogenic – look at those gorgeous blue eyes! She really exuded a sensual vibe while in front of the camera. Awesome shots Sondra! Coming up – shot from our last January Marathon girl – Jennifer.
